Playa Los Muertos

Location
63728 Sayulita, Nay.
Description

Tucked just around the bend from the Sayulita town center, Playa Los Muertos is the kind of beach that feels like you’ve discovered a locals-only secret—because, well, you kind of have. Named after the nearby cemetery (yup, “Beach of the Dead”), this small but lively cove is anything but spooky. Think crystal-clear waves, palm trees for shade, and colorful boats bobbing in the surf. It’s the perfect mix of relaxed and lively—close enough to the action, but just hidden enough to feel like your own little slice of paradise. Great for swimming, people-watching, and catching golden hour with a cold drink in hand. A little weird, a little wild, and totally unforgettable.

  1. Start at the main plaza in downtown Sayulita.
  2. Walk south down Calle Delfines (the same street that leads toward the main beach).
  3. When you reach the beach, turn left and walk along the sand toward the south end of the beach.
  4. At the far end, look for a small trail that leads uphill past the Villa Amor Hotel—you’ll spot a cobblestone path.
  5. Follow the cobblestone road up the hill and over the bluff. You’ll pass through the Sayulita cemetery (don’t worry, it’s peaceful and beautiful).
  6. After the cemetery, the path curves downhill—keep going until you reach the shore.
  7. Boom—you’ve arrived at Playa Los Muertos, a cozy cove with calm waters and a laid-back vibe.

🕒 Estimated Time:

🧭 Tips:

  • Great for swimming, especially with kids or if you’re looking for calmer waves.
  • Bring cash if you want to rent chairs or grab snacks from local vendors.
  • Try to visit in the morning or late afternoon to avoid peak sun and enjoy the best light.
