Description

Looking for a more private, off-the-beaten-path beach experience in Sayulita? Welcome to Playa Carricitos—a breathtaking, untouched stretch of coastline just a 20-minute walk from downtown Sayulita. Surrounded by lush jungle and dramatic cliffs, this secluded paradise is perfect for travelers craving peace, nature, and unforgettable sunsets.

With no crowds, no vendors, and no distractions, Carricitos offers a raw and authentic connection to the Pacific coast. It’s ideal for relaxing, taking in the views, or simply escaping the busy beach scene.

Join one of our guided tours and experience the magic of Carricitos the safe and easy way. We’ll take care of the route, provide insider tips, and make sure you get the most out of this local treasure.

Note: While the beach is perfect for lounging and watching the waves, the surf can be strong—so we always prioritize safety.

  1. Start at the main plaza in Sayulita.
  2. Walk south on Calle Delfines (the street that leads to the beach).
  3. Just before reaching the main beach, turn left onto Calle Niños Héroes.
  4. Follow Niños Héroes uphill and continue along the road as it curves and turns into a dirt path.
  5. You’ll pass through a jungle-covered residential area — stay on the main path (you might see signs for Villa Pelícanos or Playa Carricitos).
  6. Keep walking for about 20–25 minutes from the plaza (roughly 1.5 km / 1 mile total). The path is mostly unpaved but walkable.
  7. Eventually, you’ll reach a stone gate — go around or through it, and continue a few minutes down a path that opens up to Playa Carricitos.

🕒 Estimated Time:

  • Walking: Around 25–30 minutes depending on your pace.
  • Some parts of the trail are uneven, so wear sturdy shoes (flip-flops not recommended).

🧭 Tips:

  • Bring water, snacks, and sunscreen — there are no shops or services at the beach.
  • Best visited for sunset, but plan your return before it gets dark (there’s no lighting on the trail).
  • Great for quiet beach time, meditation, or a scenic picnic — waves can be strong, so swim with caution.
